Picked up a new to me IP for my 1.6L TD and it has that newfangled ALFB on the side of it and I'm trying to figure out a couple of thing about it.
First, where should it get power from?
Second, what controls when it should get power? According to Jimfoo:
The terminal is to deactivate it to reduce HC when the engine is cold(<60*C) when energized.
So is there a temperature switch that is used to control the activation?
And last, after the pump is timed should it be energized or de-energized to set the idle?
Thanks
ALFB? are you talking about the LDA? and are you talking about that electronic timing advance? most leave it un hooked..
Yes, the electronic timing advance that's on the side of the injection pump that is opposite to the cold start lever. I'm just trying to figure out how it works and how to hook it up if it is useful to.
The aneroid on top decreases fueling.
The electronic solenoid on the side decreases inj.timing.
If i remember correctly from the briefing Vincent gave me.
Its stuff for high altitude compensation.
Most all disconnect/disable both devices, unless you live/drive way up yonder near the clouds.
I disabled mine.
Came on 89-92 NA.
