Turbo Removal on '91 Eco Diesel
« on: June 26, 2010, 04:15:35 am »
Hello all. I need to replace the head gasket on my '91 eco diesel (393,000mi.) but can't detach the oil return line from the turbo in order to remove it.  The nuts on either end of the line don't seem to leave me enough room to get a tool on them. What's the best way to do this?

what about removing it from the oil pan?? and then taking head, manifolds, turbo and oil line off as a unit?

Oh, just read either end of the line doesn't have much room... The pan end should have room, shouldn't it? the only thing near it should be the down pipe and that has to be at least 6-8" away?

Thanks for your reply. The bottom fitting connected to the oil pan looks to be the most accessible  but is routed through what looks like one of the motor mounts. There is still not enough room for me put a tool on. Looks like I might try loosening the nut with a hammer & chisel. Hate using that method though.
