Car over Heated
« on: June 16, 2010, 04:57:03 pm »
So its a bit of a long story so here it goes, went on a 60km drive was fine the whole way no high or abnormal running or temps..... on the way back on that same drive noticed it was getting to warm pulled over and checked coolant level. it was good but system was stifeling hot.... the half the rad was stone cold. so what gives no coolant flow. rads fine checked that head flows aned heater core would flow with a garden hose but not in a sealed system, i know i blew a head gasket to because the resivor was getting lots of bubbles, so i drove it home. now its hard to start but when it does finally light off it runs like a top and nothing is wrong with it. belts are all good water pump was spinning but with a garden hose the lower rad hose should flow through the head and out but it wont what happend is there a thermostate that got stuck closed line colapse or pump plug up i just recently put a new head on and i have no clue, if none of this makes sense ask away and ill try my best to answer. typing with a broken hand is difficult.

Is the water pump impeller spinning on the shaft? Either that or the t-stat stuck shut.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.
