« on: June 08, 2010, 04:54:20 pm »
I wanted to include you guys into what may be a limited run of custom rear engine mounts that will allow you're mk2/3 swaps to run large turbos without having to have custom manifolds made up or without cutting and weakening that pesky cast aluminum mount!  Individual price is $250ea or if I can get 5 or more $210ea plus shipping. More info can be found on: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?p=3009304#post3009304

Feel free to pm or ask me any questions!

how much for the pieces not coated and ready to weld? Would you consider sending measurements? Just wondering.

hes not interested in sharing, i already asked. he said it took too much time & work to share his dimensions and specs. must have taken a year to design it, and a week to build it if it costs 250 bucks for a couple pieces of 1/4" steel bent a couple places and welded together.

he already posted pics of it, if we really needed to, we could damn near get measurements of it off that. and having a mk2 sitting outside for mock up purposes.. hmm... i wonder what im going to be building today?!

As Kevin noted I was not willing to send him my cad drawing free of charge so he could make some up for himself and who ever else he wishes.  Guys this my income for my food on my plate and I don't see it reasonable to give up all my designs and ideas freely, and I would suggest Kevin doesn't openly suggest he is willing to steal others designs on the web.. It might end up in a civil action if the wrong person catches him. Prices are reasonable for the ones who purchased it.

For anyone,  I would be willing to send the bent plates for $150 plus shipping for a single and 125 each if 2 or more are ordered.

Regards,

Kyle

who is taking food off who's plate? you are cutting up and bending a few cents worth of steel, and charging 250 bucks for it. most of us have to work for a week to make 250 bucks. i simply asked if you wouldnt mind sharing the drawings. you accuse me of stealing your idea. whos idea was it first? you simply came to market first..

That's the thing Kevin, he is the first to market it. So the courts would decide in his favour if it went to civil litigation.

But the beauty of it is my thread about putting a VNT into an MKII on this forum was before he posted about this. I am fine :D Kevin you replied to that thread as well before he was here as well  ;). No big deal in asking and now I have a response, it never hurts to ask I always figured.

I just wanted to skip buying the VNT first before making a mount. I paid 800 for my welder, there is no way I would pay over a third of my welder for one plate. Sell it for 30 with no powder coat I would just buy it. I like most on this site aren't really the crowd that will buy everything and bolt it on, we are more of a "unless it is cheap I will just make it" type. I wish you well and would love to sell you welding wire/rod, drills, and whatever else you need in that fab project as you must be getting hosed on materials for that cost. For that matter I could source the steel, braking/bending, powder coat and hole drilling for less than 25 dollars shipped to you 5 to 10 peices at a time. If you want me to let me know as you could make a killing charging 150 per pop or keep your 250 and keep t bones on the table all week long.

I hope there are no hard feelings and we might be able to help you in your business in other ways than buying from you. For what it is worth I think just by looking at your design it looks good and you shouldn't have any problems with it. Again, good luck.

yea lucas.. i know.. we were throwing the idea around 2-3 years ago, the thread is still around somewhere. just that none of us actually had the need to make one. but we were talking about it before he even came around. and i do wish him the best of luck, because he will need lots of luck selling those things at that price..
