1985 jetta ran great. A lady hit me on the pass. front/side. Dealt with cops blah blah blah.. Drove it home no problems. I let it sit for about a month and it started fine. Brought it out to my shop. It sat for about 5 months. I did the body work. By the way no physical damage to anything in the engine compartment. I left the key  on for 2 months so I hooked the jump box to it. It started up after a couple cranks. Then I stalled it. It has not started by the ignition since. I put a new fuel filter, battery, air filter, glow plugs, 50 amp fuse in it. No start. I bled the fuel system for two days. I filled the new fuel filter with ATF. When I cranked it there seemed to be oil/atf leeking out the exhaust through a hole under a car. A pretty good size puddle. Then that stopped. No start. I pulled it down the driveway. It started. No power, needs the clutch adjusted. Still no start by ignition. Northboundtrain came over and helped me time the pump. It's timed now I am not sure how off it was because we are not sure if the cold start lever was pulled or not   The cam was off by a couple of degrees. Fixed that. Otherwise everything seems to be timed correctly. There is smoke (doesn't smell like diesel) coming out of the intake. Sometimes there is a small pop/poof of smoke. Am I skipping something on the timing? Why did it run fine after the accident and not run now? I have no problem tearing it apart but before I do that I need to find out what is going on. Any response will be greatly apprecited.

It could be a relay problem. Is your glow system supplying voltage to your new plugs?
