mk2 firewall pad picture?
« on: February 08, 2011, 10:11:51 am »
HI all,
I'm looking for a nice clear picture of a mk2 engine firewall pad so I can get an idea of whether its worth it to buy one new or not.

Thanks

Nope - they made a pad, not just a shield.. not sure if it's just a cold weather thing or what, never saw one - but interested in it's appearance.

I'm trying to reduce audible noise outside the car in my tdi mk2 engine compartment and thinking about ordering one from germany, but pics would help me make up my mind.

I think the MK3 one might work, and should be easier to find, and cheaper used. All MK3 cars came with it.

The MK2 pad only came on 1990-92 16V GTIs and GLIs.

That would also make me less afraid to hack it up to make it fit :)

I really want to keep a clean factory look - which is why I was after the mk2 part.

I have one on my GTD as standard. Will try and get a picture tomorow, but obviousely being on the car it probably won't be very helpful. I'm not sure how much it reduces noise by because interior noise is still fairly loud when its cold. But i guess when its hot the car is actually very quiet so it must have some effect.
