I'd rather trade its Ford C6 bits for NP205 bits, but all options are on the table.

lot of good stuff from junkyards, best one is 10 minutes away from my house, usually have about 20-30 jettas in there most are MKII's alot of gas but also alot of N/A diesel, best buy ive had there was a complete 1.6 TD with mint T3 lol the owener said it didnt run and had spun a main, so i got it for 100 bucks, took it apart found nothing wrong with it lol, used alot of the parts of it to rebuild my engine haha, ive also found the upper weather stripping there, mint bumber off a 92 jetta, countless center consoles, a mint rubber shift boot (i like them better) plus tons of just small stuff and all the europoean style fuses i could want ever, lol not a single vw there has fuse left in it lol
1990 VW jetta 1.6 td, 2.5" exhaust, no muffler, governor mod 2010 edition, K&N filter. and now 66 hp and 136 ftlbs.
project 1.6 liter in the works  :)

You don't rev a VW diesel, you increase the clatter.

Picked up a 1.6 NA with a FN 5 speed transmission w/all linkages complete with injection pump, intake and exhaust manifolds, alternator and ac compressor for $227. The car had a blown headgasket at some point so the cylinders were a little rusted from antifreeze.  The transmission shifts as smooth as butter.

I'm still waiting on full details, but the mechanic that did the alignment on my Outback heard me say I usually drive my VW diesel. He asked me if I would be interested in one. He said he fixed it for someone years ago and they never paid. It has been sitting for 3-4 years in his backyard junkyard and doesn't run now. Body supposedly is in good shape. No rust. He said it is a Jetta but not sure of the year. He wants $300 for it so that he doesn't have to take it to the crusher. Maybe a junkyard find :o

No rust......I'd be all over that. I'm more of a hatchback guy but any vw diesel without rust would be nice.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Yes, same here on the hatchback over the trunk!  We are lucky here in the south--No road salt. They don't start salting the roads until you get into North Carolina, and that is minimal compared to northern states. Of course it is extremely hard to find the turbo 1.6's that are common in Canada, down here.

Refresh my memory....how does an American bring car parts across the border legally?????
The mask and the shot(s) are actually an IQ test. If you are wearing or circulating, you just failed the test. I can't feel sorry for you.

My friend didn't have any problems at all. Of course he was just bringing a longblock back for me. He claimed used auto parts at the border, they gave it a glance and let him right through. Probably not as easy for a whole car.

Does CraigsList count?
Just got a COMPLETE brown interior for a Mk2
(Brown is difficult to find in good condition, as everyone throws it away when they find a black set)..
Door cards, Knee bar, Door handles & cranks, sun visors, rear seat, center console, etc...
from an 85k mile garage queen!

CL ad said free interior for a Mk2,
so I figured it was likely shot, but took the drive because it was brown.

Turns out it was PERFECT and beautiful.
It will be quite the compliment to my Sahara Beige..

First things first, though:
Gotta make some new Vapor Barriers so the new cards do not suffer the same fate as the old ones!
