compound turbo setup on a 1.6td
« on: May 11, 2010, 06:39:27 am »
hey guys ive got this idea of a compund turbo setup that i want to put together,
just wanted opinions and advice really, ive got a 1.6td engine that im building up and i have a garrett t2 with choice of turbine housings and the original KKK k24 that came with the 1.6.
would there be a big enough size difference to warrant compounding the t2 with the k24?

i have the pipework to be able to make the setup work, just wondered if it would be worthwhile?

cheers

Hey I'm not too far from you. Anyways, I don't know if anyone has done up a 1.6td. Mark Malone (a mod) out of BC has built or helped build a compounded 1.9 tdi. Andy2 has built a compound idi I think although I don't know what the base engine was.

The Malone Tuning tdi makes around 450hp!!!!!!!
2006 Jetta TDI - gtb1749v, Malone 2, Frank's Titan 2 cam, VR6 clutch....
1991 Jetta TD - sold :(
2001 Golf TDI - Son's
1981 Rabbit - BEW tdi swap project

I think a single properly sized twin-scroll modern ball bearing turbo would do much better than the t2 and the k24 in conjunction.
