MTDI idle vibration
« on: May 08, 2010, 02:25:19 pm »
I've had my LR 200tdi pump running in the van for a while now, its seems to be running well and making about the right amount of power. The problem is that it vibrates quite a lot at idle, so I was wondering if anyone here had an idea of what might be causing it. The pump is completely standard, still need to do the govenor mod.
Thanks
Andrew

If you increase the RPMs a little with the accelerator pedal does the vibration go away or lessen?

Are your engine mounts good? A new passenger side mount transformed my car from vibrating and shaking to smooth and purring. I replaced all the others as well, just to be sure. (Until I got the old mount removed, I could not actually tell that it was bad)

Ye, I'm on Landrover mounts atm, which are pretty rock solid tbh. Looks like finding some softer ones is the place to start.
Still need to get a rev counter, so can't say exactly what my idle speed is.

Any ideas of where to get softer landrover style (round with studs both sides) mounts?

Thanks
Andrew

Ye, just ordered those type of mounts actually.
I'm using the mount that came from the sierra with the type 9, which mounts to a craddle I made for the g/b
