That is awesome!

Reminds me of one of my high school shop projects:D I made a cannon out of a hydraulic cylinder that we turned down on a lathe. Much smaller, but you could shoot about 20 cents worth of pennies out of it. Then we added nails and other stuff on top of the pennies. One duck met its match at the base of a tree. Sadly, it was taken as one of my friends got into trouble with it. Great job on yours, did you ever find the ball LOL

Indeed it is..   A 1968 Model D to be exact..  It's the only other thing I tinker and spend money on as much as the Rabbit..   Goes about as fast too.   ;D

did you do any work on the inside of the cylinder, or just cut it off?

I just cut it off..  I did inspect the inside for any oddities that could jamb things up...  That's actually a helium tank..  It's about a 1/4" larger around, and a perfect fit for a bowling ball..   ;D  I was leary about welding the barrel, but after seeing that others have welded huge knobs for a pivot I figured it would be fine.. I opted to do 1" spot welds the length of the tank versus a solid bead..   Easier to fix if it breaks, and less likely to weaken anything from the heat..  The recoil is taken up by the trailer sliding after fireing and it seems to be holding up well...

I recently saw another design that has the base stationary with the barrel in a big hoop thing with an old coil spring at the rear to absorb the shock..   Very slick it was...

I've just been using some FFg black powder I had laying around I'd like to get some smokeless or Pyrodex and tray that out...    The other thing I'm going to try next time is putting the powder in some sort of little pouch..  I've just been dumping it down in there and kinda pushing it around the fuse...
