Leaky IP, what gives?
« on: May 04, 2010, 05:32:20 pm »
Well, I rebuilt my motor and just started it up yesterday and it runs fantastic.  My IP is slightly leaking on the top cover which is real annoying because I totally rebuilt the IP about 3-4 months ago.  I rebuilt it with an updated seal kit with viton seals and all.  It didn't leak at all.  During the engine rebuild the IP sat for about 1 month before being reinstalled yesterday.  I noticed some diesel leaking out the top cover seal.  It stopped, but is leaking again.  I cleaned the dripping/leaking but I am confused to why it started leaking only after a month of sitting.  The diesel that is in the car was fresh, also there was some diesel kleen that I added while I filled up the tank.  What should I do?  Put some ATF in the fuel or just drive it and see if with time the leak stops due to the engine heat?
