AWESOME Braking Power with new Set up
« on: March 30, 2010, 07:51:46 pm »
A while back i had upgraded my front brakes to a MK4 VR6/1.8T set up (11inch rotors, different spindles and MK4 VR6/1.8T calipers)

I also ending up installing completely new rear brakes including brake cylinders, new drums and new shoes a while later. Also flushed the entire system with new fluid.

The set up never really had the stopping power i thought it would.

So I decided to bite the bullet and get a new master cylinder, cleaned out a ridiculous amount of crap in the reservoir when i swapped it, and did another system flush.

And finally tonight, I installed a new set of EBC Red Series pads.

After I found a vacuum line unplugged from me doing some past motor work, all I can say is WOW!!

These brake are unbelievable, basically the entire system is new, and the EBC pads are incredible.

I only have to push the peddle half the way down and they'll start locking up....real big difference and i'd recommend this set up to anyone.

I did the same , huge G60 brakes and rotors, new master with MkII pedal swap and all new custom S/S brake hardlines and Goodrich s/s flex lines.

I mounted new 16V prop valves to the master cylinder before the new hardline was made to fit

Did you pull these out of the yard? I'm wondering what I should pull in terms of brake parts next time I find a g60 at the junkyard, already have the VC and intake manifold. Do you need the hubs etc. or is it just the calipers that are necessary with the adapters?

I GOT THE SEATS AND THE ROTORS WITH CALIPERS FOR 400.00

SENT CALIPERS FOR REBUILD AND PAINT

SEATS WENT FOR A COMPLETE COVER WITH BLACK/WHITE NEW SCIROCCO MKII MATERIAL 650.00 PAIR

USED JMAN1066 ADAPTERS AND EBRAKE CABLES

HAD TO DO THE PEDAL SWAP , REMOVE THE STOCK PROP VALVES (  FRAME ) INSTALLED THE 16V PROP AT THE MASTER CYLINDER

ALL S/S HARDLINES AND FLEX , DONE....

EVERYTHING JUST BOLTED UP...

I spent hours preping my axle and springs for powder coating

Good brakes are absolutely fun huh??

I remember the day I went from stock mk2 brakes to 11.3" rotors and dual piston calipers front and 8" (or something) Passat disc rears along with a larger master cyl.

It was fun!!

We all like to go fast but WAY to often we neglect the stopping part.

Go fast stop fast..
