Dobolina,
The Quantum drive train will not fit into a Caddy. The two photos below illustrate the challenge. First, the Quantum's engine bay (top photo) is 33" from firewall to front crossbrace, while the Mk1 Rabbit/Caddy's is 29". Second, the Q's steering rack tucks right up under the brake master cylinder and passes over the top of the rearward projecting gearbox, while the Rabbit's steering rack sits down low, right where the gearbox is. Third, the Rabbit's front wheel centerline is 21" back from the front crossbrace, while the Q's is 30", so the Q's drive line would be trying to stick out the side sheet metal of the Caddy.

Of course, you could always make a Frankencaddy by grafting the entire front end of the Q onto a Caddy, like Maarten's Dutch friend did with a late-model Jetta...

I vote to fix the Quantum and keep looking for a Caddy!
