refilling gearbox oil in a 1999 1.9td transporter

Simple stuff folks, but there are an assortment of nuts around the gearbox and I wanted to make sure which was which.  I was under the impression that the drain plug was a 17/19mm hex but the VW garage said not.  Also where is the fill hole....3ltrs correct?

The plug is a 17mm hex (you can use a wheelbolt to unscrew it)

Fill it up till there is olie dripping out of the hole, I think 3 liter is too much.
