Thanks,, whats the difference between the ECO (USA) and any other diesel of the USA market??
I would love to get just a new motor but my dad hacked in 2 fans from another vehicle,, I want it back to the stock working condition.
the old fan had 2 fans run off a belt setup with one motor all i remember.

The ECO was the only turbo diesel VW available in the US between 1988-1992, and they were only sold in 1991-1992. It had a tiny catalytic converter, a non-boost injection pump, and oil squirters for the piston cooling. Essentially, it was a turbo block with a small K24 turbo on it, but because of the catalytic converter, it lacked the added fueling under boost (the soot would clog the cat).
Originally, your car should have been equipped with a dual fan with a dummy fan that ran off the main fan motor. This setup is SIMILAR to all other VW dual fan setups, but is UNIQUE to the ECOdiesel and VR6 Corrado. This is because they are A2 body platforms. Because of this, the radiator is narrow in height. So, later MK3 (1993-1998) and B4 (1994-1997 Passat) or any other setup will not fit because the shrouds are TOO TALL. Also, the contemporary B3 (1990-1993 Passat) will not work with the fan relay setup your car has. While a B3 Passat dual fan setup will fit your radiator, it is only a 2-speed fan (3 terminals on the plug). The ECO and VR6 Corrado is a 3-speed fan (4 terminals on the plug).
So, if you want to wire up your car correctly, you need to source a 1990-1994 Corrado VR6 (NOT G60) or original 1991-1992 ECODiesel Jetta dual fan setup.
This is black box info. Most people are not aware that there is a difference, or what that difference might be. I've seen some pretty hacked up solutions (probably like your pop's) to the dual fan setup on the ECODiesel.
If you really want to go back to stock, I have a fan and shroud setup that is correct for you car. I also have 3 fan motor relay harnesses to boot (I parted out 3 ECOdiesels a while back). So, you could cut and splice, or simply plug into the main fuse/relay box and not have to splice.
