Special Tools
« on: March 24, 2010, 11:38:40 am »
We've all come to the point while working on our VWs where there is bolts that need a special tool to use to remove it then we start the search for it if we don't have it. I figured we should make a list of tools that YOU NEED that are hard to find such as Clutch bolt socket, Headbolts, Injectors, and CV Shaft Bolts,

Most shops have these tools, but if your backyard like me you dont lol,

I'll start off with the 8MM 12 Metric Bolt Bit for CV shafts. It was hard to find the right now but KD tools makes it, Part number 2304

8MM 12 Metric Socket Head Bolt Bit - Canadian Tire sells them as well. 8mm is for the CVs, 12mm for the headbolts.

Sure they do. I've bought 3 sets from them over the years. You can't ask the guys at the counters though, they know nothing of the sorts. Next time I'm there I'll get the product code

Advance Auto carries a set of Performance Tool branded triple squares, but you have to look for them. Small package, only three bits, but it's the 8-10-12mm trio we need.

Haven't found a 17mm hex with them, however.

ALWAYS undo the FILL plug first just to make sure you CAN!   :)

Ba ha ha ha... truer words were never spoken.   BTDT... good thing I checked in advance or I would have been up the proverbial creek.  Amazing how easy the drain plug wanted to come out. ;)
