Fixed it for ya ;D
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

It'll for sure bolt to the head, all 1.6D or TD have the same ports.

Not sure if it'll clear other stuff though.

I have a couple of the 90 degree inlet flanges that I want to sell.

Yes, it will work.  You will need to swap the top block-off plate with the inlet flange.  The inlet flange will also be straight instead of a 90° bend and so you'd need to make a custom tube to connect from the turbo to the intake manifold or source the golf/jetta flange and boot.

Both of my Quantum manifolds didn't even have the top plate drilled out. No block-off plate, just the cast metal.

I've also had in my possession an A-platform TD manifold that didn't have the side flange drilled out, just the top.

Not sure when they started just drilling the specific side, but apparently there are some of them out there.
