Hey congratulations, I also had rebuilt short block installed just last October, tally was somewhere north of $5000 (also add +$ for new suspension, motor mounts, alternator, battery, etc.) Nice to have your old car back running like a top, isn't it?

Why did we do it, when we could have bought a much newer car for less? Well, I've got so much invested in my Passat now I'll never be able to walk away from it! Anyway, I can't find a nice diesel Passat with manual transmission unless I move to Europe.

Hope you're enjoying it!

2 amp battery charger al wired with factory block heater

I've become a fan of this as well... 2A is just enough to warm the battery up nicely, and if needed, a good way to keep a battery topped up on a car that only gets driven every once in a while.  *Very* convenient to have it hardwired permanently.
