stops most of the fine dust. slows down the rest so the oil on the filter will catch it. On all of my race quads we used K&N and they let too much through and we had lots of rebuilds. Switched to Uni and didn't like the performance as much, but less rebuilds. Went to K&N with the outerwears on it and had performance and better engine life than running a stock filter. The tracks we raced were all in a series year after year and the weather could be different, but it was seeing the same conditions year after year. So it was a good real world test. I know the filtering could be better on K&N, but as long as I run the outerwears I don't think I will have issues.
I am not trying to push someone onto or away from K&N or that style, but just telling what I do as it works.
I didnt want it to end like this .....

STDSN Star Trek Deep Space Nine, I still win, thanks Vince
Gee Bee, that sounds like a nice setup. I'm presently running a K&N panel filter in a Mk 1 airbox, but will be changing to what you have once I can find a bent pipe to replace that ugly plastic duct.
BTW, I've run K&Ns for over 20 years and over 2 million kilometers. I wouldn't run anything else.
