Howdy y'all.
Ive not got access to my project car at the moment so can't simply go to the bonnet and check but in short here is my question:
I have ebay sourced an 0460 414 987 11mm pump (038 130 107 J) from an auto ALH engine. I am planning on installing it on my 1Z (along with the hybrid turbo, AFN injectors, large FMIC etc etc) in my MK2 Golf GTi. The pump is in my house and the car is locked in a friends garage who is away.
I know it isn't the preferred method of choice of most on the forum, but I have taken the fairly lengthy steps to keep the electrics (installed the fly by wire throttle, full wiring loom, ECU etc) and so far it has been fairly plain sailing. However the ALH 11mm pump has a 10 pin wiring plug and the 1z only has 8. (But from looking at various web pictures it would appear that there is a second 2 wire plug that comes from the earlier pump).
In short, is there anyone who has bolt off --> bolt on experience of the later pumps to the earlier engine? Can I separate the 10 wires into 8 and 2 to connect to the 1Z loom?
The wiring on the car up till now has been simply a matter of cutting off the required plugs from the mk3 tdi loom and soldering on the relevant plug/socket from the mk2 GTi one to correspond to the motor/switch/bulb etc that it is connectong to.

Yes but you will be missing a ground (I think) Actually I think you'll have an extra... it's possible though

Yes, if you can manage yourself with exchanging the heads and the camplates of both pumps, then you should be done - though that might require reprogramming the ECU.

This post should help out:

http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=152265

That's brilliant - thanks very much. Someone should copy that and post it on here on the FAQ page. Its very informative!!

And within that tdiclub post is a link to another walkthrough - this time with pictures:-
