I use a run of the mill deep impact socket on 1.6 injectors. 1.9 injectors are taller so you might need some type of specialized socket. Or take the pump off and use a box wrench.

I read everything I could find and the closest thing was a "Craftsman 27mm deep socket", but not a current one ::) I guess this means there is no specialized tool that anyone knows of? Sorry to be a pest, just trying to do it right. ;D

A regular deep socket didn't fit my 1.9 injectors, so I cut the end off and welded it to an old regular sized socket of similar size. The extra bit of depth works great and beat the cost of buying a specialized tool.
If you can't take advice - then you can't be helped!

I use a 'Powerbuilt' 27MM deep 1/2" drive impact socket.
One of the injectors on the D14 is tight to the head, and i had to grind the nose of the socket to a small taper
Only drawback is you have to remove all  of the return line from the rabbit ears, or you can bend em with the socket.

Just chuck a grinding stone into a drill and deepen and hog out the inside of the deep impact socket for the 1.9's.   Make sure you clear enough so the fuel return line barbs clear.

It depends on the socket's shape inside near as I can tell, but you CAN tweak the bypass line nipples and make them weep if you aren't careful.  Sometimes you can swedge them back in, sometimes not.  Go slow, be careful.

27mm also fits the oil cooler nut. Useful to know when the thing starts dumping oil into your coolant. ::)

For the 1.6:
 1 1/16" deep socket
 Make sure it's 12 point;
 less likely to bend the little barbs

just to keep this thread current...

the lowes Kobalt 1/2" drive 12 point 27mm deep socket will only work on the 1.6 injectors, it WILL NOT work on the longer 1.9 injectors.

A short piece of cast iron pipe (cut off the end of my cheater pipe) and a couple minutes with my chop saw and welder fixed that...

It also leaves plenty of room for the return nipples.
