• Hello everyone,
  
  I recently installed a used IP on my AAZ and timed it to .90+- a bit. It seems to run ok, but it still doesn't have that diesel "knocking" sound (I know a stupid description) until I pull out my cold start.
  
  I also realize that based on the mechanical wear of the engine - an exact setting on the dial gauge is sort of ballpark.
  
  How much higher can I go timing wise on my stock aaz with about 340,000km? When do I know it is too advanced?

• I have my 700,000+ km n/a 1.6 timed at 1.02mm and it likes it there.
  
  If pulling the cold start makes it run a lot better sounding, then maybe you should bump it up to around .95mm? pulling the cold start manually gives the pump an extra 4-5 degrees of advance.
  
  Seems the mk3's are stock set at; Engine AAZ  (1.9l turbo)   0.80  +/- 0.02 mm
  
  Some turbo guys advance their pumps to 1.05mm with no ill affects.. not sure what the physical limit is.. or where it becomes redundant.. but 1.05 should even be fine.

• Mine's happy at .045 (wayy higher than anyone recommends.........). I believe 0.39 is 1.05 mm.
