Given that Canada is one of the largest countries in the world this would be an easier question to answer if you updated your profile to be a bit more specific. ;)

you need the right master cylinder and proportioning valve for the disk brake setup.

Yuppers... also will need the emergency brake cables as well as the hoses.

Some folks find it easier to just grab the entire axle assembly and swap it across... or you can unbolt from the backing plate, stub axles, etc.

You can cheat and not swap master cylinders and prop valves... lots of folks will tell you they've done it... but VW makes 'em different for disks vs. drums and as a safety system I figure it might make sense to bow to their wisdom?!  Enough cars on the road already with iffy brakes?!  ;)

the disk brake master cylinder is ~2mm bigger than the drum brake setup, if i remember right.

so basically i need everything off the rear main axle, master cylinder, proportioning vavle, and the e-brake cables would it be smart to just  swap the whole brake system from the car or would it be too much work. im guessing they are the same brake setup in the front. but i dont know you guys are the veterans to this stuff.

oh yeah anyplace to order a bentley manual online?

Chapters/Indigo/Coles carries the Bentley manuals... doesn't look like they have a store in Lloyd but there's one in Saskatoon.  Their web site should let you order them for local pickup.

You can also get them online thru Amazon.ca.

I swapped the rear discs on my '87 Jetta GLI over to drums.
Ebrake cables were different but there was no proportioning valves on the master cylinder, like the Sciroccos have.
The proportioning valve is on the rear beam and didn't need changed.

 Rear discs are troublesome.
The emergency brake arm gets sticky and they seize.
New ones are probably OK but used rear calipers are iffy.

Yup... Just smoked the pads off our '98 Jetta Wolfie. Went from fully functional to worse than useless in less than a month. :P
