The biggest gains can be had through either a chip or a tuning box. The PD150 injectors are a bit of an upgrade but probably not worth the cost involved. The unit injectors are not meant to be serviced so it is best to replaced the complete units.

Ding ding, either should be the first mod.

Some tuning boxes do work well considering they're plug 'n play. IMO they are a worthy alternative to a chip, although not as powerful. I plan on selling tuning boxes in the future for customers who don't live near me (required for custom chip tuning).

I don't really know of a Canadian chip tuner that can chip PD TDIs yet, but I will be able to chip PD TDIs (2005+) on or after January 2006. You can PM me if you haven't gotten chipped or tuning boxed by then.

edit:I can chip PDs and Mercedes CDIs now.. ;)

You dug up the thread almost exactly 1 year later :o

It might be worth mentioning an alternative to Unitronic: RedRotors, the administrator of this site and based in Quebec, should be able to chip PD TDIs VERY soon :D He can be reached via PM:

Unlike Unitronic, RedRotors does full custom chip tuning. ;) Each TDI and each driver's expectations are different, so a custom tune squeezes out every drop of performance (or economy) & ensures optimal reliability as well.

His price may be lower than Unitronic's as well, for a limited time. I say limited time because custom chip tuning requires more attention to your car by chip tuners so naturally it will cost more.

Jeff at rocketchip.com is also a tuner you could talk to, he's in the states tho.. in PA...
He's pushed 150+ hp out of a PD with his stage 1+ chips.. I think you can just mail him your ecu too..

Best luck whatever way you go and happy clutch replacement
