I have a '91 MKII Jetta NA and it has this odd dryer vent ...er snorkel arrangement that I need to deal with. The PO ripped it out of its anchor in the passenger side fender, and I see that it is a (very dirty) foam over wire cage thingus. The glue on the seam that holds the foam together is coming apart. At a minimum I should think I ought to clean the thing and glue it all back together (and add some cable ties to keep it out of the belts), but is it really effective anyway? What do you guys use for breathing on one of these?
Rick
you could always fab up your own intake hose.
You could install a 1Y intake and inlet pipe and run a 2.25 I.D. air filter assy.

PVC pipe & glue does count as fabrication...

well technically.. lol anything you made, you fabricated. No? oh burnnn lol I wouldn't use the PVC, but it is an option.. course you could always run nothing too lol
I am sure that I can come up with something equally as creative as you all, but , back to my question (restated).
Is there any advantage/reason to keep the stock setup with this looong foam contraption? Or, why did they make it like THAT?
Rick
I think the foam is a for sound deadening.
