You guys will appreciate my early Christmas present....
« on: December 17, 2009, 08:30:00 pm »

TDI version of the Giles pump, fortified with extra dynamic advance.  A little project to keep me busy over the Christmas holidays.  ;)

We need a "drooling" emoticon.   ;D  What sort of gains do you expect to see from that?

HAHAHAHA!!! Too bad about bein' sick.

I guess if it was a Christmas present that must mean he's handin' more out? ;D Not that it would work for me anyways.........
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

That's an interesting question.  I have two identical 2001 Jettas and a G-Tech....might be able to do a bit of a comparison.

I wanted to paint it pink.

I'm confident enough in my masculinity to have installed it anyway. ;)

You do paint your pumps, don't you, for rust protection?  What kinda paint do you use that stands up?

No problem. That purple pump is painted with Tremclad from c-tire. Nothing fancy. It's been on the car maybe 9 months and it is holding up well so far.

I do like to paint them because of rust issues. Giles doesn't like to paint pumps because if the paint flakes off and gets in the pump or injectors it can reak havock on the system. I figure rust will do the same thing so I'm not putting myself at any greater risk and it looks better... even if it is purple :P

When we do paint pumps we typically use a quick dry enamel

The purple pump would be more acceptable if the cam cover matched.  :P
