I am going to remove my ip to replace the cold start o-ring. when I remove the ip am I going to have to redo the timing after I put it back on or is the timing only changed when you do something internally.

Timing will be changed as soon as you loosen the bolts mounting it. get yourself a dial gauge to put it all back together.

I think you can do that on the car.
take off the nut
lockwasher, and
then the arm
a washer behind there
hides the o ring.

you have to pull the arm and the aluminum piece it mounts in to change the cold start shaft o ring. you can pull that piece off on the car too tho.
