Bigger upper spring perch for new rear springs? (Rabbit)

I'm replacing my '81 Rabbit's stock rear springs and shocks. The springs are Neuspeed Sofsports, and they're 4" OD, while the stock springs were about 3 11/16" OD. So the new springs are a little too big to nest into the stock upper spring perch/plate. What's typically done about this? Is there another VW model that has approx 4" OD springs that I can scavenge the JY for bigger upper perch cups? The new shocks came with two different sized lower plates, one fits the stock springs and the other fits the Neuspeeds, so the lower side is fine.  Thanks for any advice.
