Tips for rebuilding a turbo
« on: December 10, 2009, 11:47:20 am »
I have a T3 that I am going to attempt to rebuild off of an older 1.6. I have the housing apart, broken studs machined out and the entire thing cleaned. I removed the carbon on the turbine shaft, it looks good. I checked it on parallel V blocks and it is perfectly straight. The journals look good too. There is no damage to the compressor wheel, or the hot side blades.

It looks like the only bearings in the center section are held in by 4 small c clips. It has a 1 pc oil seal that is not located in the center section but rather on the outside. I am a little confused on what kit I need. Any tips or advice would be greatly apreciated. I have a local shop willing to balnce the assembly for $40.00 when I get it together.
