I was noticing how there appears to be no cold start advance on some pumps (like Peugeots). How do those cars attain an even idle speed with no cold start advance?

Some engines come with an automatic cold start advance
such as some Nissan diesels. Not sure about Peugeot though.
I believe the engineers used coolant temp to control cold start advance
that would be great on our VW's
