Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

Worst? 6.7L/100km on the last tank.. With the new 11mm pump on there, and my foot on the smoke pedal A LOT.

Never seen less than 36 in any of mine.  42 long time rolling average in the 81 before I moved, the NA-AAZ 82 did 38 average between OK and CA last June, haven't driven it much sense.  Seems low but it was kinda cruddy and weighed down, not to mention running hard with the AC on most of the way.  And altitude, without a turbo.

Many things we do naturally become difficult only when we try to make them intellectual subjects. It is possible to know so much about a subject that you become ignorant.

17.859 at 2450 versus 16.58 at 3000?  Come on man, let lose with the numbers that matter.  It is almost Christmas, surely you can gift us with that little bit of knowledge.

My 88 gets the best mileage @3200 rpm (117 km/h or 72mph).

not alot of places to go 70+ mph for any distance, without getting a ticket..

Ah heck you just need to get into traffic coming out of Portland at rush hour.  It is either 8 or 80.  It seems that the man allows you to get about 6 or 7 over before pulling you over on I 5.  So when the posted speed is 65 you can push it up to 70 easy but be careful with those next couple.

Ja, not too surprising in the US to see traffic on a 65mph regulated road regularly travelling >70mph.  In Michigan, 70mph regulated roadways frequently carry 80mph traffic.

As for fuel economy... I'm sure my worst was when I towed a Vanagon with my Westy. I can't recall, but it was probably under 17mpg.
