I am thinking of relocating my washer fluid tank somewhere else to gain some engine bay space. One idea I had was here:

The space measures about 8" wide, 4" high, 5" deep. Anyone have suggestions about where to look for a suitable plastic container? What about the pump? I would probably have to do something in-line...
Any feedback on this, or other ideas about location? I'd eliminate it completely, but in our climate I need the fluid for winter safety.
Thanks!
I think any plastic box that would fit in there would work. A step drill bit would be able to get a perfect hole and you could possibly use the vw pump still.
Another I idea would be go to the junk yard and see what is out there. My XJ has a tank in the fender, which I don't think would work for our cars, but maybe one would, or give you an idea/something to put in that hole.
I had a bottle from an old Dodge Ram 50 (AKA small Mitsubishi Pickup) Mounted in there on my old bunny.. Fit nicely and had the pump built into the tank... I think Advance auto has universal coolant over flow bottles that would probably work well too.. You'd need one of the nifty inline pumps with one of those though... A junkyard shopping trip would prboably be the best bet...
Thanks for the ideas. I figured a junkyard trip might be a requirement, but hey - if someone else had already figured it out, why reinvent the bottle?

And yes, if I could find something that fits that's already a washer bottle with pump, so much the better.
One idea might be to try to find a car with a bottle that is mounted very low with a long flexible neck. I might be able to then place it under the "frame" & behind the front bumper or something.
Another idea I had last night: there's a local company that does plastic welding & repairs. I thought about contacting them to see if they could build something from scratch, or modify something that I would provide... First I gotta remember where I saw their advert...
If you're looking at modifying an existing bottle Permatex makes a really good plastic weld.. It's basically a 2 part glue you mix, but as lonf as the surface is relatively clean it works well and is somewhat flexible versus say JB weld... I buy it at the local hardware, but I think Advance carries the stuff..
I have some old tupperware, maybe that would work. Just drill holes for the pump and a filler, glue the lid shut so it seals. Then everytrip when you pop the hood and your buddy says "what is that?" you can tell him "oh man I forgot the leftovers again."
Some early MK2 golfs had an extra washer bottle in the boot

Cant see why it wouldnt fit in a Jetta, you'll need to run a pair of wires for the pump and a pipe for the fluid but wouldnt be too hard and would look 100% better than a tupperware box or some random reservoir
On a golf it would be even easier, just jointhe pipes at the front the split them at the back there fore no extra pipework to run just the wire for the pump.
My mk1 had a bottle in the back too, due to the PO the wiper/spray nozzle was gone due to a replacement hatch so I pulled the bottle.
Hey - the trunk is a good idea! Hadn't occurred to me. Should be a fairly cheap deal - just some wire & tubing. Hopefully the pump would be strong enough to pump from the rear. One would have to be sure the tubing didn't get pinched somewhere along the way.
I'll have to work on this... Thanks!
