I'm working on an '81 (A1) Rabbit Diesel 1.6L on which I've replaced the injection pump with a used working unit, but the throttle levers and springs are different. The old one had a system with two stacked springs, and the "new" pump has only one. I haven't checked the numbers on the bad pump but it ran great before failing, and the "new" pump part number appears to be correct for this engine.
Is there any functional difference? I've read that the two-spring design serves only to have two stages of throttle pedal resistance. Is this correct?
