I thought that my 94 Jetta had some glow plug issues, so I went and bought 4 new ones and wires to replace the bussbar. Hunted around to try and find out how to get to them since they are pretty much inacessable to my big mitts... I posted on another forum and they forwarded me over here to see if its a coolant sensor or if it could be the plugs.
Hopefully, its not a HUGE weird issue... Im no super-car-guy so here's that its not too envolved.
d3.
Tools, and determination. Move stuff out of the way untill your there.
Hi Vince, I know of your site and methodical explainations... I was planning on replacing the buss bar with the wire as per the "pimp out glow plug" section... but I still can't get to the plugs just because of the injectors, hardlines for fuel and what ever else.
I havn't done much to the car since I got it due to the fact that it was going to be a temporary car ( 1 - 2 years ) since the economy sucks, now I have to fix this.
Swapped the coolant sensor, tried to start the car after plugging in the block for a few hours... white smoke, no hesitation just cranking. :/
I called a mechanic from an old company I worked for, hopefully he can stop out and tear thru it.
Any direction would be awesome.

The two key points to troubleshooting glowplugs would be:
- have you been able to confirm power to the glow plug buss bar, using a test light or multimeter?
- If so, have you been able to confirm continuity at each glow plug?
