I get tired of people tearing prothe down. I have bought stuff from that was good and stuff that is junk, but what do you expect when you can buy an item for 25% of retail somewhere else. When I need something important I go to the stealership. Its not like he is calling his stock OEM quality.

I agree 100%.  When someone needs a part for thier VW and does a little bit of research they will find you can get the same part from a variety of places having varying prices.  That being said, the things that I have bought from Prothe have worked well for me, the head gaskets and bolts ect that I have needed in the past I have paid more for through Parts Place.  You get what you pay for and most people know this and some just fail to recognize it.

The only problem I have ever had with Prothe was I order a few fuel filter from him once and he sent me filters for an A3, I think.  Anyway, I sent him an email and pictures of my old filter and what he sent me.  It took him 2 more tries to get it right, but he more than compensated me for having to ship the wrong ones back to him.

I'm kinda glad that I wasn't bashed for not bashing prothe in my post.  hell, for 37 dollars, I got two new door handles that work great, plus an ignition switch and the trunk lock.  the tumbler was kinda flimsy, but no more than a sloppy oem :P.  Just don't buy life saving stuff from the guy.  sometimes cheap isn't better, but it sure is convientient (sic?) otherwise

Doesn't that light switch go, First click headlights AKA Daytime running lights then Second click everything on?

Just wondering.

Either way Newbie to diesels or not if you paid $9. for a headlight switch and whatever ungodly low amount you paid for the trunk lock and expected Quality parts you need to sell your car and go buy a Honda...

I've bought several items from him and will buy again but I have enough common sense to know a $9. part is just that.

These cars are not cheep, you buy cheep parts you get what you paid for.

You've had your rant now move on.

For heavens sake some research before you buy these days has got to be one of the easiest things to do..

Not to mention this is posted in the completely wrong section... What does this have to do with the IDI engine?
