I have 82 N/A. I did the governor mod, doing the small (middle) spring first. I then had a problem with hanging rpms between shifts. I removed shim from small spring and put it in the long spring. The hanging rpms between shifts went away, worked great. I have since installed a vnt -15 turbo. When I went to turn the fuel up even just a tiny bit the rpms would hang again. The shim I used was .060" could that be to big or in the wrong place? I can remove the shim and turn the fuel up 3 or 4 turns and the rpms do not hang between shifts, But It feels like I'm running out of fuel just past Half throttle. Is there any way to be able to do both until I can get (afford) a td pump?
i had a n/a pump on my engine at first. they just dont put out the fuel that a TD pump puts out. you could take the fuel limiter pin out of your pump tho. its the one on the front side of it beside the governor shaft. the throttle plate hits it to limit fuel. or you could just swap an LDA top on that pump and cut the fuel limiter pin. instant TD pump.
