Dumb question - I should know this - how have you guys modded your 1.6 mani's?

I slapped the 1.6 on there the other day but wasn't convinced there was enough meat around the top to make it work without it leaking.

i always thought the 1.6 ports werent big enough to make them work.

that's kinda what I'm seeing.

I really wanted to use the 1.9 mani with the k24 but I don't think it's going to happen, too much interference from the cold side, the 1.6 is clearenced for it, but the 1.9 isn't.

I'd like to retain the stock exhaust position and enjoy my investment in my downpipe.

Maybe I'll throw a k14 on there and see how long it takes to blow it up :)

I'm putting it on a head that the machine shop frowned at, should be interesting... this one is a from a motor that "allegedly came from a  running car" but the head surface is kinda chewed up, I'm sure it won't last - especially on this bottom end :)

On that note.. If anyone has a nice 1.9 core head that's not a piece of crap I might be interested :)

I'm running a 1.6 intake on my 1.9 head, but of course I am NA. I compared the gaskets to the manifolds and there is some gasket all the way around. Not enough that I would trust with boost.

That's what I was afraid of.

So are people welding material on the outside  and then re machining when using (ex) a gasser intake on a 1.9?
