today though I was leaving from ashland, ore for three days down in norcal to see a show on wednesday. Car cleared the pass with flying colors. I wanted to camp out west of redding at whiskeytown, but at redding; a noise like a bearing when acclerating(water pump). pull into to a mini mart complete with tweaker working, pull the hood. as I look down, the bypass hose decides to split and tinkle on my foot.

So i start up the car sans alt. or wp belt, runs fine. so turns out a parts store down the street. a few blocks down an autozone and a kraagens

. so the guys at autozone were great to me. only had a pump itself sans housing. cleaned up the water pump right there, still peeing all over the place. cleaned it up again, and found a massive crack going through one of the pump cover bolt holes, as well as through the main flange. got some 5 min epoxy, and slathered it up well. had to keep adding water every 40 miles or so. made it home 109 miles back over the mountains home, and the engine running decently.....just freaking hot. thought i'd be camping right now, instead I'm writing this. I must be nutz.........taking her car tomorrow.....we're on a mission from god. if anyone needs to break down, redding is the place. these guys at autozone were trying their little hearts out. we're on a mission from god. we gotta see this show in frisco tomorrow night.
WOW sorry to hear! Better luck tomorrow I guess.. At least you broke down near one of the few helpful autoparts stores...
When my mom was about 6 months pregnant with me she blew a hose on her '79 Mercury (Then just a 4 month old car!) Right in front of a Napa.... Unable to get in touch with my father (no cell back then) she called the selling dealer which was about 3 miles away.. They would be able to come pick it up in about 4 hours (Last car they sold her).. Being mid summer with my 11 and 13 y/o sisters with (and rather pregnant as well) she marched into Napa and bought herself a hose a screwdriver, and a gallon of antifreeze.... She felt it real nice that the guys in the Napa were so kind to sit there and watch her change the hose...
Man if you were in CA in on the weekend I would say come swing by and check out my motorless rabbit. Im only about an hour and a half east of sf.
