I installed this MK1 leather-wrapped steering wheel in my gas MK3 Golf a few years ago:



... now that the Golf has received a diesel engine swap this year, I think might bid for that awesome steering wheel!

what cars got the leather-wrapped wheel? i have like 6 of those wheels, none are leather-wrapped... and my corrado leather one needs an adapter to fit the mkI spline.

Most of the A2 Jetta GLI's had the leather wrapped ones....finding one in good to excellent shape is the problem now. I'm lucky to have found one!

Could you guys set me straight please? I had been looking at getting a 4 button GTI wheel also but then decided to go with the 92 GTI wheel.
I heard that there are two types of spines. Mine is a '92 1.6D Jetta.
Having seen the pic above could the 4 button one work after all?

I would be willing to trade some machine time on one of my Boston Digital MC's for a clean 4 button and engrave the sought after GTD mold insert.

Would be a great addition to my GTD build-up! 8)

I just used parts from the MK1 (shown in pictures below) to make the steering wheel fit:



The MK3 piece shown below is too large for the MK1 steering wheel, so it was removed.
