Hey everybody (and especially the Boss, RedRotors...
),
We have been seeing more and more threads touch on non-VW IDI engines, and I was wondering if there was enough interest to start a new category especially for those engines? Personally, I think it'd be great to have a dedicated place to read about Volvos (yeah, I know they're rebadged VW's), BMW's, MB's, Cummins 4bt's and all the other "orphaned" IDI diesels out there. It's clear that there is a small but dedicated following for them, but their marque communities aren't exactly rolling out the red carpet for them. So maybe if we gave them a place to hang out we could all benefit. Sort of a "build it and they will come" thing. Whatcha think?

Definitely. At least here in the US, there's probably three VW diesels for each one of any other kind (excepting the V-8 trucks, which do have their own forums). I'd love to be adopted by the VW's....

Yes, I think it would be a very good idea to create a category to discuss non-VW diesel. A place to discuss diesel engines in general would be a great help to me.
I have search through the net for any info on diesel engines and found very little. vwdiesel has some of the most detailed discussions on diesel engine internals that I have seen and having this guys to look into less vw related stuff would be very useful for all diesel owners.
