Clutch failure

After only 6,000 miles the clutch disc failed in my car. I wish i was making mad hp to destroy clutches but thats not the case. I called randy at techtonics tuning and talked to him. He is going to see if his supplier will warrenty the disc. Thing is it caused damage to my trans and pressure plate also. And i don't have my car to drive while it sits in my buddy garage.
What clutch would you guys recomend? I think a solid disc will be to rough. But i don't wanna do this again. I'd rather be pulling the trans to swap for a 6 spd!

My first reaction is that the spring that came out of the disc did the damage, but the question is why? Then I saw the last picture, and I'm wondering what the h*ll? Is there any marks on the flywheel from contact, or is that all from the spring? was there a problem where the pressure plate bolted to the crank? or to the flywheel? When I pulled mine apart recently, I found that the fingers on the plate had been contacting the springs on the disc. I think I would have had a spring pop out if I had left it much longer, but it started slipping about 2 years/80/000km ago!

Yeah, I'd question why too. I'd use the warranty disc. Those springs really smooth out the shifts and it should be good for 150K miles w/o question. You will not get as much out of a solid disc. The damage to your trans cover, I would not worry too much about that. The Germans really put some meat in these castings.

Whatever caused the spring to come out is a mystery to me. But the spring got between the disc and the pressure plate. It caused the disc center to stick out of the flywheel more than normal and "machine" on the trans case. I think the trans will be fine i'm going to run it none the less. None of the bolts were loose.
I just want to find a clutch that will hold up. I drive agressive sometimes but not side stepping the clutch. We were cruising down the highway. But hours before that we were stuck in lots of traffic. I had cut my foot open so my friend was driving. He slipped it more than i would trying to stay right behind the person in front of us. He also kept missing gears and grabbing to high of gear. But thats driving in traffic i want a clutch that will hold up to at least that.
It was the 8v disc and 16v pressure plate clutch kit from TT. All new bolts and center plate for the push rod. I have a eurospec lightened flywheel.

Woah crap. Nevermind.
I'd say you had a strange defect-related failure then. I don't think normal-ish driving would have caused that.

thats what im using. but remember to mark the diesel timing mark on the flywheel.

Itwasn't in backwards. And it sticks that far out cause the spring wedged between the pp and disc. Causing the disc to machine my trans case.

I had a SACHS clutch (supposed to be good) fail on my rabbit shortly after I installed it a few years ago. All of the springs fractured within 500 miles, fell out of the disc, and then blended around in the bellhousing. I heard a racket in there, so I pulled it all apart again. It scratched up the trans pretty bad. Another new disc, and it's been good since.

Got an empi 200mm solid hub disc for air cooled VW. Works great! Love it Its not rough at all feels better than the sprung disc.
