seeking drive belts shield for 92 jetta
« on: July 20, 2009, 07:18:10 am »
I'm trying to find a drive belt shield for my 92 jetta. Supposedly they were an add on up to 91, then put on all 91-92 cars.
I've yet to see one.
I've tried partsplace and some junkyards - cant seem to locate one.

If anyone might have one - show me a pic of it and tell me what you want for it.
Its the shield that goes below p/s pump/belt and is vw's attempt to keep road splash off the belts.

(Speaking of belts - anyone have any gates p/n's for belts that actually fit? The recomended p/n's will go over the pulleys, but when I try to tension the belts, I find that I'm at the end of the adjustment range and the belts are still too loose. Tried Daycos and even belts from German auto parts.)

Thanks !
The fleet

2000 jetta (other sons)
98 jetta (daughters)
2001 jetta tdi (girlfriends)

I've only ever seen two of them. One was mine and one was a friends. He also had the snazzy alternator belt shield :o
