You should spend 15 mins on that fan cleaning it up, it would love to move more air for you if you did.

The entire garage could use a cleaning, but the king of fans is still blowing strong.

I finished sanding the inside of the passenger door and got it primed today. 2 down, 2 to go.

This is giving me crazy ideas to go weld up all the holes in the caddy sitting in my cousin's field :)

Getting closer on the last door. I️ just need it back above 40 for a few days to get it primed.

With the NE getting a new cold front coming this weekend I don't think you will be spraying for awhile.  But what has been done so far is just fantastic.  Keep going when the weather lets up.

Thanks for the encouragement! It was a bit warmer tonight, and I managed to get the last door primed.
There is almost no trace of the diamond silver metallic left. I started cleaning up the under carriage. I’m glad that this phase is nearly over and I’m looking forward to getting on to the blocking.

Winter and professional obligations aside, I’m back at my favorite hobby. I have continued to work on the undercarriage, and tonight I got the first coat of POR 15 on the fore section.

It’s not all good news. There is substantial rust damage above where the swing arm bolts to the passenger side. I’m just gonna take repair one step at a time. I doubt i could make it worse. On the plus side, this explains the crazy shim I had to make to get this tire to align.

Oooo, that's some ugliness.  I'm sure you will get it sorted better than ever, though.

I’ve made some progress with the repair. I cut out the worst rectilinear area of the underlying tube support and welded in a 16 gauge plate and then ground it smooth. What remains of the light gauge unibody metal that wrapped it is still a mess. I am debating patching it with another 16 gauge plate to add some strength. I can blend it back in without making it too ugly. No one will ever be able to see it anyway.

I’ve made significant progress recently, but haven’t posted because the Tapatalk app wasn’t ready for the new iPhone. Seems that has been addressed with the new update so here goes:

I finished the repairs on the frame rail.

Then I finished removing the rubberized waterproofing from the undercarriage. There is still some in the photo, but I have since removed the remainder.

Then I painted the remainder of the undercarriage with POR15.

I have since cleaned the car and started with the high-build primer filler. I am using Evercoat Superbuild 4:1. This stuff is way harder to work with than any paint I have ever used. Firstly, it is incredibly thick, and very sticky. It smells just like polyester resin like body filler. It had settled so much that it took me 90 minutes to stir it up. I have since bought one of those mixers that goes on a drill. The directions said that you can clean it with acetone, but this was not the case. I have since purchased a gallon of lacquer thinner. You can’t just throw a little in the mixing cup and wipe it out with a shop towel. I am going through shop towels at a record pace. Also with a 4:1 the little 8oz mixing cup only makes 5oz of paint, which does not get very far, so I grabbed a quart size that will mix 20oz a batch. So far I have only hit the front inner fenders and valance. I have been super busy at work and haven’t had time to sneak a few hours for garage time in the last couple weeks, but I am excited to post progress when I do.

The Great Work continues.  On that primer, do you find that you have to have a large tip opening on the gun to spray it or do you thin it down more than recommended to get it to come out and lay flat.  I was trying to use a 1.5 mm tip with some primer/surfacer and never got the mixture right to suit my environment.  Which is cold and foggy today.  Other times I tried where it was super hot, 98, and dry.  I just couldn't correct with the reducer at hand.

I now own a better HVLP gun capable of painting latex paint, a 2.5 mm tip.  If that doesn't handle the thicker paint I don't know what to use.  Mabe a roller and then just sand it more?

NOT
