i actually could feel the difference in my tired 1.6 when i cleaned up the ports.
Coulda been some placebo effect, no? LOL kidding. Well obviously you will feel power if the engine has to work that much less to get air in.. it will be able to use that energy else where
well, the port castings were some of the worst i have ever seen. a couple of the ports had spots that had to be taken down almost an 8th inch in spots to be level with the runner floors and walls.
YIKES...

The machine shop wants $850 for a mild polish & valve job. For that money, I'll buy a bag of Dremel sanding drums and spend a day or two doing it my own damn self. Gotta Giles pump to pay for soon. Wish I could find my flex drive...
My AAZ ports are actually pretty smooth, except where the internal sections join together, there's a seam that needs to go away, and a nasty little lip just beyond the steel valve seat insert.
I might add - the 1.9 head has bigger prechambers which can handle more heat than the 1.6 too.
1.6 block with 1.9 head revs fast, gets lots of flow and will be able to take more of a beating.
