I was wondering if Royal Purple is wortth the money? its to go into a 2.0L Gasser. 213000km on the motor with a knock
They swear by it in high mileage Muscles
213XXX and its got a knock and I need this pour thing to survive 70,000KM a year
you want a 2L to be reliable when you push it to 70k a year? I don't think so lol. only a 1.6 N/a will hold up to that! LOL
Figure out why she's knocking and she'll be more likely to make your 70k a year...

My Dad's '86 golf 1.8L has had a knock for the last 5-6 years, when it first started a good rev would make it stop. After a while that didn't work so he got new lifters (hyd), that didn't fix it so new rod bearings but that didn't do the trick either. It hasn't got any worse since then but it sounds pretty bad, we're thinkin' it must be wrist pit/upper rod slop. It's been probly 30,000 miles like that.
i'm guessing its a valve since its coming from the top of the motor,

If i can get a hyundai 1.8L to survive 50K in 6 months before blowing the head (never did an oil change) i can make a 2.0L last with a regular oil change
I found this on a website while researching what oil to put in my brother's 2004 Mini Cooper S Works Edition. It sold me on it, and he says the car runs smoother and accelerates better than before:
http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oil%20Tests.pdftakes a while to down load.
I'm not sure if it will help a rod knock though....
i've heard that one of the main reasons royal purple gets better mileage is because its viscosity breaks down quickly... but i don't know. you can't really argue with those results, but i wonder why they left amsoil out??? i'd also like to see lubro moly or liqui moly...
i'd sure like my engine to be micro polished
