breakin the law
« on: July 16, 2009, 09:00:48 am »
I was headed to volksfest in Indy and saw a couple mk4 vr6's when I got on the entrance ramp.  I promptly got the up to speed and blew past them all why seeing NO COPS in sight.  I immediately slowed back down after I passed them and glanced in my rear view mirror only to see mr. state trooper approaching rapidly.  He asked me how fast I was going and I told him 80-90 because I really didn't know and he said, "try 100."  haha.  speed limit 70.  Gotta slow my butt down!  damn mk4's

in oregon, there is a recently passed law that allows troopers to seize your car if they deem necessary if caught going 100 or over.   :'(

Ouch!  Most days I'd let them sieze my car....  But if I managed to break 100 with it the story could be different..

They ever seize my car for doing 100, they would be picking up the pieces as they slowly flew off....  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Looks like I'm safe. My new ECOdiesel will only do 95. I proved that lastnight.

but I think there is something else about doing twice the speed limit as well, so depending on where you were......
oregons kinda strict when it comes to a lot of laws, there's just not many cops; at least in my corner of the world.

IN Pennsylvania anything more than 30mph over the posted limit will generally get you a not so free ride in a Crown Victoria...   A recent law is that if you get busted for over 90 mph you get your name in the newpaper and on the radio..  Gee that's been proving real effective...  ;D

50 kmh over (about 30mph) will get your vehicle siezed, a huge fine, and huge costs to get the vehicle back. Lots of points gone on your licence too. It's deemed "racing". Insurance companies really don't think much of it either.

haha, always funny to hear what college kids have to say.  reality, which is where I live, is a little different.  no need to speed with one of these in the car.

guess I just have more going on in my life than to brag about getting 100 mph speeding tickets.  hope you're smarter in a classroom than you are in a car. ;)  but i guess it won't matter anyhow, mom and pops prolly pay all your bills for ya. ;).  this makes me miss my short time as a university prof....... :-*

its a funny story i read about on fark.  that kid crashed his dads car, and noone knew how fast he was going.  then he put this video up on youtube, where everyone found out how he wrecked the car.  he was indicted by the county court, and the judge yanked his license for three years.  I'll see if i can find the original link.
