Hi,
I have an early ('94) 1Z TDI engine, At the moment it has a solid non clutched pulley. I do have a known working ASV ('01) alternator with a clutched pulley, should i just swap them? the pulley is slightly larger on the newer one if that makes any difference.
I was thingking i might as well do it whilst i do the belt!
Cheers
Ryan
yes, do it!
that clutched pulley is worth about 200€ on its own!
my tensioner was squeaking with the old pulley, installed that one on the same 120A alternator..
no more squeaking!
Does the extra size make a difference? i cant remember the AMP rating of the later alternator but i think it's larger. I got it from my Ibiza ASV when a dodgy alternator was ill diagnosed!!!!
it won't make a difference if you don't have a huge ICE install (I mean HUGE) or some other mega electrical load.
plus, less drag on the engine, its all good
