I just bought a 1996 jetta for parts and it has a 1.6 TD motor installed with a 5spd. My plan is to install this motor and tranny in my 96 cabrio. The motor runs great but the IP leaks somewhere behind the pump down low by the cold start lever so I have to take out the pump and have it rebuilt. I would like to know what year motor I have. The block has a number MF 000875. The IP says VE R 186 or 068 180 110H.
If I send out the pump I will probably do an upgrade then look for a better then stock turbo. The motor is in the cabrio now but trying to find some shifter bushing that the rod goes through in the tunnel above the former cat. Any help would be much appreciated
My MF engine code is a 1985. The 068 180 110H is the Vw part number (068 for the diesels). The Bosch number will look like NR 0 460 494 135, and will better help identify the pump for rebuild...
Edted for speeling
Yes, my block is an MF hydro block and it can't be older than 90.
So it seems the year is not as important as the numbers correct? I have NRO 460 494 162 for a pump. Thanks to all for responding. I am new to IDI's also have a TDI and 3 Dodges with cummins diesels and make and teach to make biodiesel. Also trying ALGAE for biodiesel (slow progress)
My MF was built in 82 from what i can come up with. its got a solid head of course, and 12mm bolts. and all the pieces on the engine that are date stamped, are all stamped with late april of 82 clear up to late early july of 82. and i too have the 0 460 494 162 pump. works great for me.
