TD IP question
« on: June 09, 2009, 07:57:21 am »
Hi all,
I just put a GTD in my previously-NA Jetta and am ready to get this girl running!  My problem is that only the #2 and #4 injectors are getting fuel, and this is after a lot of turning over with the starter.  I noticed that these two injectors are the ones with lines at the bottom of the pump, and the 1 and 3 injector lines are higher.  Is my pump just filling up and do I need to keep just turning it over?  I've never seen the inside of a pump so I have no idea really what's going on in there.  I poured fuel in the fuel filter and the supply line to make sure diesel was getting to the pump.  I turn the car over in five second spurts, once every thirty seconds or so.   ???

Have someone pull the car with a truck or a car. If it doesn't start, you have a problem.

A feed pump might be a good idea to begin with if you can't tow your car.

take the fuel inlet line off the pump but make sure the area is clean before.  you don't want ANY dirt getting into the pump!  then pour some diesel in the pump until it overflows, then hook up the fuel inlet line and crank.  it should start right up.

Do I need to get the IP timed first, or will it run (albeit roughly) without being accurately timed?
