DIY power locks and GPS NAV

Where would I go about getting an FM tuner for my computer? I've hunted for them, but they're apparently niche market items?

the problem with USB is that it does consume quite a lot of power... there must be another way

I'm not trying to be a theif or anything but I'd like to get a sample of your code. I don't know much about C# but its really all the same other than syntax. I really really want to see pictures of all the interfacing. This is seriously such a project I'd love to do but dont think I have the skill. I feel like I'm in the middle of the programming and electronics. Not enough of either! ha.

In response to locks that work in the cold. I picked up a remote key switch thingy from allelectronics.com and still havent put it to use, I recon I could use a relay and one of their bulk lock pop motors to see if I could rig something up.

those are the same door locks i bought.  they work really good and are super easy to hook up.  pretty reliable too

I wouldn't worry about temps too much with an SSD; my eeePC has a little one and I've booted her connected to my chev's obdII port for start-up diagnostics @ -20c. The LCD however, is a different story.
